Dr. Hou graduated in 2019 from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology with profound knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology and physiology. Dr. Hou has unique hybrid expertise in both dry lab and wet lab, with more than 9 years’ experience in bioinformatics analysis of multi-omics data from clinical studies and deriving meaningful biological insights. Dr. Hou has published 18 scientific articles in journals including Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Microbiology Spectrum, Molecular Biology and Evolution, Cell Communication and Signaling, etc. She also acted as a peer reviewer for 50+ manuscripts from 18 scientific journals mainly in the field of cancer biology, immunotherapy and human allergic diseases. Dr. Hou is also the Vice Chairperson of Hong Kong Society of Gut Microbiome. Dr. Hou is responsible for leading the bioinformatics R&D team to work on AI-based metagenomics-related research projects and translating microbiome science into commercial health-promoting products.
